— Jan. 12, 2017 — This year marks the HealthAlliance Foundation's 35th year of raising funds for healthcare in Kingston. The nonprofit organization, which supports the programs and facilities of HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), kicks off a yearlong celebration with the addition of three members to its board of directors and two to its advisory committee.
The new board members are Dr. John Bonavita-Goldman, Joe Murphy and Rocco J. Pucino III. The new advisory committee members are Amethyst Meyer and the Rev. Kendra VanHouten.
Bonavita-Goldman is a former radiologist who moved to the Hudson Valley after retiring from his position at NYU Langone Medical Center, affiliated with New York University.
Murphy, a Rondout Savings Bank residential mortgage originator, joins the board after serving on the foundation's advisory committee. He is a lifetime area resident and serves as the Woodstock Women's Cycling Grand Prix course director.
Pucino, a Newburgh native, is an assistant vice president and multisite manager of Ulster Savings Bank. His volunteer experience includes four years with the New Paltz Rotary Club, as vice president and treasurer.
Meyer, a longtime Kingston resident, is a financial services representative at the Bank of Greene County.
VanHouten has been the Fair Street Reformed Church's minister since 2011.
"We are pleased to have these five individuals join us in 2017," said foundation Executive Director Steffen Kraehmer. "Their enthusiasm and experience will be a great addition to the foundation as we celebrate our 35th year and support the exciting changes unfolding at HealthAlliance."
The foundation was founded in 1982 as the Ulster Health Foundation of Kingston Hospital Inc. In May 2013 the organization changed its name to "HealthAlliance Foundation" to reflect its expanded focus as the fundraising arm of both HealthAlliance hospitals in Kingston.
The charitable organization supports HealthAlliance's Broadway and Mary's Avenue campuses and will launch this year a community campaign to help fund the expansion and renovation of HealthAlliance Hospital on Mary's Avenue and the conversion of the Broadway location into a medical village.
"Our mission is HealthAlliance," said foundation Chairman Richard A. Mantey. "We look forward to helping the transformation of healthcare in our community become a reality."
Mantey is in his second year as foundation chairman. Other foundation officers are Glenn L. Decker, immediate past chairman; Mary Ann Hildebrandt, first vice chairwoman; Beverly Lastig, second vice chairwoman; J. Christopher Smailer, treasurer; and Joanne Fredenberg, secretary.
