64-Slice CT Scanner
Our 64-slice CT scanner quickly detects levels of plaque and fatty deposits in the coronary arteries and veins, and is ideal for patients who are asymptomatic for CAD but want to be sure. CT scanning is low risk and can guide further testing, treatment, and lifestyle recommendations.

Calcium Scoring
A simple CT scan of a patient’s chest, usually for low-risk patients over the age of 50 who want to evaluate if they should undergo more testing or make lifestyle changes. This test shows the build up of plaque in the coronary arteries.

Coronary Computed Tomography Angiography (CCTA)
CCTA quickly visualizes blood flow throughout the body. It can detect small fatty deposits in the coronary arteries, and is often used for patients who have shown some symptoms of CAD. It is considered a favorable alternative to traditional catheter angiography because it is non-invasive with fewer potential risks.

Echocardiogram (ECHO)
Captures live sonogram images of the heart to evaluate valves and mechanical functions, thanks to an ultrasound device placed on the patient’s chest.

Transesophageal Echo (TEE)
A tiny ultrasound probe is passed into the patient’s esophagus while they are under mild sedation. It generates images to determine the severity of valve disease, assess for infection, and look for possible causes of stroke with more detail than an echocardiogram.

Electrocardiogram (ECG/EKG)
Using external skin electrodes, this test records heart rhythms to help diagnose heart arrhythmia.

24-Hour Holter Monitoring
Patients wear a portable recording device and skin electrodes that can detect heart arrhythmia and irregularities for a 24 hour period. This can detect heart problems over a day that might not show up on an electrocardiogram.

30-Day Cardiac Event Monitoring
A portable event monitor records abnormal heart events for a full month. Using a telephone connection, data is sent to ECG technicians regularly for evaluation.

Tilt Table Testing
Patients lie on a table and are evaluated with EKG and blood pressure monitors. The table is tilted to simulate standing, and reveals changes in blood pressure, heart rate and rhythm.

Cardioversion
Using therapeutic doses of electric current, cardioversion is a procedure which helps convert an abnormally fast heart rate or arrhythmia to a normal heartbeat.

Cardiac Catheterization
Cardiac catheterization is a procedure that uses injected contrast to visualize and diagnose blockages in the coronary arteries.

Stress Testing
Evaluates heart response to external stress, such as through light exercise on a treadmill.

Cardiac Rehabilitation
After angina, heart attack or any cardiac procedure, a concern for many patients is being able to “trust” their cardiovascular system again. Our cardiac rehab services can help patients manage heart disease and return to their normal lifestyle.Patients are accepted by physician referral. Our team guides recovering patients through an exercise and nutrition program, and works to improve risk factors such as high blood pressure and cholesterol, smoking, physical inactivity, obesity and diabetes.

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide, and can build up for decades before causing a heart attack or angina. At HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, we provide a continuum of care to help diagnose, treat, and rehabilitate patients who are at risk for or suffering from CAD and other cardiac disorders.

In addition to our trusted array of Electrocardiology and Cardiac Diagnostic services, we offer highly detailed 3D diagnostic imaging with our new 64-slice CT scanner. Even the smallest possible deposits of fat and plaque can be detected, helping to diagnose CAD in otherwise asymptomatic patients.

What are the risk factors of CAD?

  • Age
  • Family History
  • Smoking
  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Diabetes
  • Obesity
  • Physical Inactivity
  • High Stress
