Paul Hochenberg to Retire as Executive Director of MidHudson Regional Hospital After 45-Year Healthcare Career in the Hudson Valley

Paul Hochenberg, Executive Director of MidHudson Regional Hospital, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), has announced plans to retire later this year after years of dedicated service to the 243-bed Poughkeepsie hospital and the health network.

"Paul has been instrumental in the rebirth of MidHudson Regional Hospital and its role as a force in the community it serves," said Michael D. Israel, President and CEO of WMCHealth. "From day one, Paul focused on the historic mission of MidHudson Regional Hospital: our commitment to expanding services and access for the people of Dutchess County and beyond, and our role as a vital healthcare resource and economic engine."

Hochenberg came to MidHudson Regional Hospital in December 2014, shortly after WMCHealth acquired St. Francis Hospital and transitioned it out of bankruptcy. He began his career in the Hudson Valley in the late 1970s, having served as the leader of St. Luke's Hospital in Newburgh and then Craig House Hospital in Beacon. His career has spanned other institutions, including Long Island Jewish Medical Center and a variety of roles at WMCHealth's flagship Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla before arriving in Poughkeepsie.

"Having spent more than 45 years in healthcare leadership positions in the New York metropolitan area, I can honestly say that my tenure at MidHudson Regional Hospital has been the most fulfilling, working with a team of the most dedicated, community-minded individuals I have encountered," said Paul Hochenberg, Executive Director of MidHudson Regional Hospital. "We have worked tirelessly and collaboratively here in Poughkeepsie and with our colleagues across WMCHealth to bring this organization back from bankruptcy and put it on the path to success. I am so proud of our many recent accomplishments, including being named the Best Place to Work in Dutchess County, being selected as the Grand Award recipient of Think Dutchess, and commencing on the complete renovation of our patient tower." 

A search will begin immediately for his successor. Hochenberg will continue in his role as Executive Director until a successor is named and will then stay on to assist with the transition.
