The Westchester Medical Center Health Network Heart & Vascular Institute welcomes interventional cardiologist Falak B. Shah, MD, FACC, FSCAI, to the Institute's cardiology team in Kingston.
In his new role as director of HealthAlliance Hospital's cardiac catheterization laboratory, Dr. Shah oversees a lab that provides a variety of cardiac procedures performed by highly skilled board-certified cardiologists and specialty-trained nurses and radiologic technologists. A cardiac catheterization examines blood flow to the heart and tests how well the heart is pumping.
Dr. Shah also joins cardiologists Ellis W. Lader, MD, FACC, Aneta D. Dimova, MD, FACC, and Louis I. Heller, MD, FACC, FSCAI, at the Heart & Vascular Institute's Kingston offices, at 111 Mary's Ave. at HealthAlliance Hospital: Mary's Avenue Campus. The office phone number is 845-339-3663.
Dr. Shah sees adult patients for a wide range of conditions, including high blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart valve disease, coronary artery disease, acute coronary syndrome, angina, cardiomyopathy, heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia.

Dr. Shah — board certified in nuclear cardiology, interventional cardiology, echocardiography, endovascular medicine, cardiovascular diseases, vascular interpretation and internal medicine — was most recently an interventional cardiologist at Trinity Health of New England in Connecticut. While at Trinity Health, he was also an assistant professor of medicine at the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University in North Haven, Conn. Before practicing in Connecticut, Dr. Shah
was an interventional cardiologist at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Ill.
Dr. Shah received his medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, the medical school of Chicago's Rush University Medical Center, and completed an internship and residency in internal medicine at the University of Chicago Medical Center. He followed his residency with two clinical and research fellowships, both at the Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Ill., an advanced-level quaternary-care center in the western Chicago suburb. The first fellowship was in cardiovascular medicine and the second was in interventional cardiology.
