Mountainside Residential Care Center, operated by HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley, a member of the Westchester Medical Center Health Network (WMCHealth), has received the Women's Choice Award for being one of "America's Best for Extended Care."

The 82-bed skilled nursing facility, with 115 clinical, administrative and service staff, earned the 2017 "Women's Choice Award: America's Best for Extended Care" honor for providing exceptional and compassionate care to its residents. The award, given by WomenCertified Inc. of Hollywood, Fla., recognizes Mountainside as a facility women would highly recommend for their loved ones' long-term care, rehabilitation and nursing home needs.

"All of us at Mountainside are proud to receive this honor, given to fewer than 900 extended-care facilities out of more than 15,000 measured," said Mountainside Administrator Christopher Esola. "Receiving it is a testament to our compassionate and expert team, which demonstrates its commitment to providing the highest level of person-centered care to our residents every single day."

Women's Choice is the only award that identifies the country's best healthcare institutions based on Medicare data weighted specifically to reflect women's preferences expressed in a 2017 national survey of more than 1,000 female respondents, WomenCertified says.

Besides the Women's Choice Award, Mountainside consistently earns the U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services' highest-level five-star quality rating and is annually recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the country's Best Nursing Homes.

Mountainside was also honored in May with the American College of Health Care Administrators' highest management recognition, the Eli Pick Facility Leadership Award, "for achieving excellence well beyond the Five-Star rating system."
