What is diagnostic radiology (X-ray)?

Diagnostic radiology is a non-invasive procedure that uses electromagnetic energy beams (X-rays) to produce images onto a computer to allow physicians to examine bone and soft tissue. X-rays are a form of radiation like light or radio waves, which pass through the body.

Diagnostic Radiology at HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley

The HealthAlliance of the Hudson Valley Diagnostic Radiology Department offers diagnostic computed X-rays, plus an innovative Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). This system gives physicians and health care professionals immediate access to diagnostic images, ensuring speedier results, faster diagnosis and better patient care. These medical images were previously printed on film and were delivered to the physician’s office by courier. PACS technology allows for a near film-less process, reducing the costs associated with film processing and saving valuable time and storage space that film requires, as well as being more environmentally-friendly. Physicians will also have instant access to historic images and patient records, which enables the comparison of patient images, old and new, and helps measure the effectiveness of their treatment or the development of their condition.
